The Donations module lets your organization create fundraising campaigns, collect one-time and recurring donations, and track donors, payments, invoices, and fundraising performance in Glue Up. Fundraisers are displayed in My Glue, event and membership checkout flows, and on your organization’s website. They can also be shared on social media or embedded on an external website.
The Donations module is available as a paid power-up.
Before you begin
- The Donations power-up must be enabled for your organization.
- Configure and validate the payment methods your organization plans to use before accepting online donations.

Configure organization-wide donation settings
Before creating a fundraiser, configure the forms used to collect donor information and review the system emails sent during the donation process. These settings apply across all fundraisers in your organization.
Customize the donor information forms
Glue Up provides separate forms for individual donors and company donors. Information submitted through these forms is stored in the Contacts module.
Go to the Settings menu and click on Donation Forms under Donation Settings.
- Find the form you want to configure:
- Contact Donation Form: Collects information for individual donor profiles.
Company Donation Form: Collects information for company donor profiles.
- Click Preview to review the current form or Edit to open its field settings.
Add or update the required fields.
- Save your changes.
The updated fields will be used on donation forms across the organization.
Review the donation email templates
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Select System Email Templates under Donation Settings.
- Review the available templates:
- Donation Awaiting Payment: Notifies a donor that a donation is awaiting payment.
- Donation Payment Instructions: Provides instructions when a donor selects bank transfer or another offline payment method.
- Donation Received: Confirms that a donation has been successfully received.
- Fundraiser Goal Reached: Notifies the organization when a fundraiser reaches its donation goal.
- Open the three-dot menu beside a template to view or edit the available settings.
- You can use the toggle to enable or disable the 'Fundraiser Goal Reached' notification.
Create a fundraiser
- Go to Donations on the left-side panel and then Fundraisers.
- Click Create Fundraiser.
- Enter a Fundraiser title.
- (optional) Add an end date/time for countdown.
- Select the fundraiser currency.
- Once fudraiser is created, the currency cannot be changed.
- Select the language used on the fundraiser page.
- (optional) Enable automatic recurring payments.
- Click Create Fundraiser.
The fundraiser is added to draft Fundraisers.
Configure a fundraiser
After creating a fundraiser, you are taken directly to its dashboard to begin configuration. The fundraiser dashboard is the starting point for configuring and managing a fundraiser. You can also open the fundraiser later from Donations > Fundraisers in the Draft section.
Review the configuration checklist
The Fundraiser Configuration section shows the remaining setup tasks:
- Validate your payment settings
- Set Fundraiser Goal
- Review fundraiser settings
- Add Cover Photo
- Add story
Clicking on each setup task, takes us to the page where we can at the info. A Publish Fundraiser button appears beside the checklist. We can only publish the fundraiser once all required info is added.
Update the general settings
- From the fundraiser dashboard, go to Settings > General Settings.
- Review or update the fundraiser title and subtitle.
- Enter the fundraising goal.
- If needed, add an end date and countdown.
- Select the language used on the fundraiser page.
- Click Save.
Select the accepted payment methods
- Go to Settings > Payment Options.
- Enable each payment method you want to offer:
- Allow Online Payment
- Allow Payment by Bank Transfer
- Allow Payment by Check
- Allow Payment in Kind
- When a details field appears, enter the instructions donors need to complete that payment method.
- Click Save.
Configure recurring donations and suggested amounts
- Go to Settings > Donation Settings.
- To accept recurring donations, turn on Enable Recurring Payments.
- Select the frequencies donors can choose:
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Yearly
- Enable Suggested Amounts to display preset donation amounts.
- Enter the suggested amounts you want to offer.
- Use the row actions to edit, reorder, or remove an amount, or click Add Suggested Amount to add another.
- Click Save.
The donation form displays the suggested amounts and a field for entering a custom amount.
Choose where the fundraiser appears
- Go to Settings > Distribution Settings.
- Select where the fundraiser can appear:
- Events: Adds a donation option to the ticket checkout flow.
- Memberships: Adds a donation option to membership application and renewal checkout.
- My Glue Home Page: Displays the fundraiser on the My Glue home page.
- Organization Website: Displays the fundraiser on the organization’s website.
Under Fundraiser Social Settings, select the social channels through which the fundraiser can be shared.
- To embed the fundraiser on an external website, customize the widget’s color, font, layout, and displayed details.
- Review the live preview, then copy the generated embed code into your website.
- Click Save.
Add a cover photo and story
- From the fundraiser dashboard, select Content.
- Under Cover Photo, drag and drop an image or upload one from your computer.
- Under Story, explain why the fundraiser matters and how contributions will be used.
- Format the story using options such as bold, italic, lists, and alignment.
- Click Save.
The cover photo appears at the top of the fundraiser page.
Publish the fundraiser
- Return to the fundraiser Dashboard.
- Review the Fundraiser Configuration checklist.
- Click Publish Fundraiser.
Monitor fundraiser performance
After the fundraiser is published, use its dashboard to review its performance and recent activity.
The dashboard includes:
- Amount raised
- Number of donors
- Average donation
- Progress toward the fundraising goal
- One-time donations
- Recurring donations
- Donations by individual and company donors
- Amount raised by individual and company donors
- Recent donations
Manage donors, donations, invoices, and payments
Review the fundraiser’s donors
Open the fundraiser and select Donors. The list is split between individual and company donors. Each row can show:
- Donor details
- Donation frequency
- Most recent donation
- Total donated
Use search, filters, export, and column settings to refine the list. Open the three-dot menu beside a donor for additional actions.
Review the donation ledger
Open the fundraiser and select Donations. Each row represents one contribution and includes:
- Donation ID
- Donor
- Amount
- Donor type
- One-time or recurring donation type
- Recurring frequency
- Payment status
- Donation date
Use the list to distinguish paid, outstanding, and recurring donations. Search, filters, export, and column controls are also available.
Add a donation manually
Use the Add Donation form to record donations received outside the platform.
- Open the fundraiser and select Donations.
- Click Add Donation.
- Enter the donation amount and date.
- Select whether the donor is an individual or a company.
- Search for an existing contact or enter the new donor’s details.
- Complete the form to add the donation.
The donation is added to the same records as donations made through the online donation flow.
Review invoices and payments
Open Finance from the fundraiser dashboard.
The Invoices page shows:
- Value of open invoices
- Value of overdue invoices
- Invoice and pro forma invoice numbers
- Invoice and due dates
- Donor account
- Total and outstanding balance
The Payments page shows:
- Value of completed payments
- Number of completed payments
- Payment-method breakdown
- Payer
- Amount
- Processing fee
- Payment ID
- Payment method
These pages provide a record of the invoices and completed payments associated with the fundraiser.
Review donations across the organization
The Donations module provides organization-wide views that combine activity from all fundraisers.
Donations dashboard
From the Home dashboard, go to Donations > Dashboard to review:
- Total amount raised
- Total donations
- Average donation
- Draft, active, and past fundraiser counts
- Donations and amount raised by donor type
- Donations by currency
- Active fundraiser performance
- Recent donations
- One-time and recurring donation comparisons
Fundraisers
Go to Donations > Fundraisers to review fundraisers under the Draft, Active, and Past tabs. Each row links to the fundraiser’s dashboard.
Search, filters, export, and column settings are available on this page.
Donations
Go to Donations > Donations to review contributions from every fundraiser in one list. Each row can show:
- Donor
- Fundraiser
- Amount and currency
- Donor type
- Donation type
- Frequency
- Payment status
Donors
Open Donors under Contacts from the left-side panel to review the organization-wide donor list, which is split into individual and company donors.
Available filters include:
- Donation date
- Donation type
- Active member status
Each row shows the donor’s most recent donation and total donated, with values separated by currency.
Contact profiles and smart lists
Donor information is also available in the Contacts module:
Apply the Donor = Yes filter to find donors.
- Combine the donor filter with standard contact filters such as company, title, and active member status.
- Save the filtered results as a smart list.
Open a contact profile to view the latest donation, recurring status, total donated during the last 365 days, and the contact’s donation history.
The donation history includes links to the associated fundraisers, payment statuses, and an edit option.
Finance
Go to the Finance module > Payments and apply the Origin or Category = Donations filter to review donation payments alongside other Glue Up transactions.
Understand the donor experience
Depending on the fundraiser’s distribution settings, donors can discover a fundraiser through:
The My Glue home feed
The Donations section in My Glue
- An event ticket checkout
A membership application or renewal checkout
The organization’s website
- A shared fundraiser link
- An embedded widget on an external website
- Enabled social channels
Complete a donation
The public donation flow contains two stages:
- Donation
- Select a suggested amount or enter a custom amount.
Choose whether the donation is from an individual or a company.
- Donor Information
- Review or enter the donor’s contact and billing information.
- Select an available payment method.
- If automatic recurring payments are enabled, select one of the available frequencies.
- Click Next to complete the flow.
The Donor Information step can be prefilled with information from the donor’s Glue Up profile, including their name, contact details, and company. The public donation flow can be opened without first logging in to My Glue.
Review donation history in My Glue
The Donations section in My Glue includes:
My Dashboard: Shows donation totals and active fundraisers. If the member has no donation history, active fundraisers are displayed instead of an empty state.
My Donations: Groups donations by fundraiser and shows the donation type, amount, and date.
Donation Transactions: Lists each donation as a separate transaction with the fundraiser, type, amount, and date.
Browse Fundraisers: Displays active and past fundraisers.
From My Donations or Donation Transactions, open the row-level action menu to select Download Invoice or Download Receipt.
Donations also appear in My Wallet > Transaction History alongside other Glue Up transactions.
