Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is structured learning that helps professionals maintain and improve their skills through accredited activities. CPD allows learning to be measured through credits and certificates that are officially recorded.
With Glue Up’s CPD module, learning becomes measurable, trackable, and recognized for both organizers and attendees.
This article explains:
- How to add CPD credit types
- How to create and manage CPD events
- How to approve attendee credits
- How attendees track their CPD activities
Note: The CPD module is a paid add-on and is only available to organizations that have purchased this feature.
CPD Credit Types
CPD Credit Types define how learning is measured, such as by hours or points. They ensure credits are assigned in a clear and consistent way, so organizers and attendees understand how CPD activities are recorded and valued.
Add a Credit Type
Before creating CPD events, you must add at least one credit type.
- Go to Organization Settings and open CPD Settings under Other Settings.
- Click + Add Credit Type, then:
- Enter a Name
- Add a Description
- Select a Measurement (for example, CEUs, hours or points)
Important: Once created, a credit type cannot be hidden, edited, or removed.
Creating a CPD Event
CPD credits can be enabled for both online and offline events.
- Open the Events module and click Create Event. Select either Offline Event or Online Event, then click Create.
- Scroll to the CPD Credits section and enable CPD Credits.
- Choose one of the following approval options:
- Auto-approve credits – credits are approved automatically after the attendee is checked in
- Require admin approval – credits must be approved manually per attendee
Note: In either case, credits are approved or available for approval after the event end date and time.
The approval setting can be changed later under Event Settings > General Settings, even after the event is created.
Configure Credit Details
Open Registration Settings and go to Registration Options. Scroll down to Credit Details.
Add one or more CPD credit types and define how many credits attendees can earn for the event.
CPD Menu in Events
CPD-enabled events include a dedicated CPD menu in the left navigation. This menu contains:
- Certificates
- Credits Approval
Certificates
Open Certificates to design and manage CPD certificates for the event.
Enter a Certificate Title and choose a layout. You can select a predefined layout or choose Blank to design from scratch.
Use the editor to:
- Add attendee information
- Add event information
- Upload images, shapes, or custom text
Once finished, you can:
- Click Save as Template to reuse the design for future CPD events
- Click Save to apply it only to the current event
Credits Approval
After the event is over, attendees appear in Credits Approval.
This section includes three tabs:
- Awaiting Approvals – pending credits when manual approval is enabled
- Approved – approved credits
- Declined – declined credits
From Awaiting Approvals, you can approve or decline credits individually or in bulk. Use the three-dot menu to view contact profiles or event details.
Approved attendees appear under the Approved tab. If auto-approval is enabled, attendees appear here automatically.
Note: Attendees must be checked in using the Onsite Toolkit or Manager app before credits appear.
CPD Module Overview
You can also manage CPD outside of individual events.
From the Home Dashboard, open CPD to view:
- CPD events
- Pending credit approvals
- A summary of CPD activity across all events
The Credits Approval page in the CPD module mirrors event-level approvals but displays data across all CPD events.
CPD in Contact Profiles
Open the Contacts module and select a contact profile.
Under the CPD tab, you can view:
- Total CPD activities
- Completion rate
- Credits earned
- Full approval history
This makes it easy to track CPD records for individual contacts.
Attendee Experience
Attendees can access their CPD information through My Glue.
After logging in, CPD appears in the left navigation and includes:
- My Dashboard
- My Activities
- My Upcoming CPD Events
- Browse CPD Events
The My Dashboard shows an overview of earned credits, completion rate, activities, recent activity, and upcoming events.
Certificates and Credit Downloads
Approved certificates and credits can be downloaded from:
- The Notification Center
- Email notifications
- Events > CPD Events > View Registration > Credits & Certificates
Attendees can download certificates directly without contacting the organizer.
